There’s more to Window Elegance Yorkshire than just windows and doors. We offer lots of other additions to your home to suit all circumstances.
Conservatories
A Conservatory is an extension to the home that is predominantly made of glass with a brick base and a glazed roof. The average percentages for a conservatory are 50% glass on the walls and 75% on the roof.
Conservatories are a great way to increase the value of your home, creating a living space ideal for relaxing, working or playing.
Orangeries
The Orangeries began life in 17th century Europe, when glass technology improved, and large glass panes were available for the first time. Orangeries are brick-built buildings with extra-large windows. In the 19th Century orangeries evolved to have a ‘glass lantern’ on the roof to allow more sunlight to enter the home.
Orangeries were originally designed for luxury homes to grow exotic citrus fruits largely across Europe as they needed to create tropical heat. They very quickly became a status symbol and continue to maintain that status to this day.
Roof Lanterns
A Roof Lantern is a 3-dimensional trapezoid of glass panes built onto the roof of an extension. These roof lanterns allow sunlight to enter the room from all angles. This brings in more heat and light into the room.
Integral Blinds
Integral blinds are similar to standard blinds, but with one key advantage. They are built into the window itself, placed between the panes of glass.
The blinds can be opened and closed using an external switch, meaning you won’t have unsightly cables hanging down, and the blinds itself won’t bend and dent over time. One big advantage is that due to the blinds being encased in the glass, you won’t have the added task of cleaning and dusting, due to them being contained.
